Statement of the Fintech Alliance PH Inc on the Surge of Text Scam

The surge in text scam or smishing activities especially this pandemic has become a grave concern for mobile phone users. Massive awareness campaign on such types of scams must be heightened by all stakeholders to avoid vulnerable Filipinos falling prey into this fraudulent activity.

This also raises the question as to how customer mobile numbers have reached the hands of these scammers and how possible security gaps may be addressed.

The FinTech Alliance has alerted and enjoined all its members, and the industry as a whole, to ensure that their respective customers are well informed and protected against various scams.

We remain one with government authorities in promoting consumer protection and in further advocating financial education.
